The EPA Section 608 Certification is required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for HVAC & Refrigeration Technicians to handle, maintain, or dispose of regulated refrigerants. This Certification Program ensures compliance with the Clean Air Act and provides technicians with the skills and knowledge necessary to handle refrigerants safely and legally. In addition to meeting nationally recognized standards, obtaining this certification increases employment opportunities and industry credibility.

There are four certification levels available. WNYFS exclusively offers the Universal EPA Section 608 Certification Program. The EPA Section 608 Certification Program is comprised of 15 hours of instruction culminating with an online licensing exam proctored by WNYFS. Students are required to pass the exam with a 70% or above.
